Its director — Nor Azam Khamis — said four of the deaths were from Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam alone, reported The Malaysian Reserve.

Of the four victims, three were locals while one was a foreigner. All of them are believed to have drowned.

Taman Sri Muda is one of the hardest-hit areas, as flood victims were also reported to have no electricity in the area.

Fire and Rescue Department operations director Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad added that one victim was found dead in Desa Coalfields, Kuala Selangor, reported Astro Awani.

He also revealed that the missing person is believed to have gone missing in Sungai Pinang, Selangor.

The PPS currently shelter about 50,566 victims from 14,693 families.

National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) director-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hassim said he welcomes volunteers to assist, but he advised them to register with authorities before doing so, reported The Star.

“We ask all those who want to help, be it on land or on water, to register so that efforts can be more coordinated and that their safety can be assured,” Aminuddin said in a press conference in Shah Alam today.

“This is important. We want to save people but we also have to make sure of our own safety while doing so.”
