PUTRAJAYA: The tourism, arts and culture ministry will give a compound payment discount of up to 40% to licensed tourism operators and tour guides.

In a statement today, the ministry said the compound payment period has also been extended until June 30.

“The ministry hopes that this initiative can help ease the burden of industry players affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” it said, adding that the flexibility of compound-related matters was under the Tourism Industry Act 1992 (Act 482).

However, the ministry said that failure to settle the compounds, for offences like renewing their operating licences, could result in action being taken against the related companies or tour guides.
